Mezzanine Cards

WILDSTAR Mezzanine Cards are designed from the ground up for superior density and analog performance. They include 16 high speed serial lanes and over 96 LVDS lines to accommodate even the most bandwidth hungry ADC or DACs. By providing far more voltages to the mezzanine card than competing form factors, noisy power supplies are eliminated from the noise-sensitive mezzanine card and moved to the baseboard, improving analog performance over competing options. With a taller stacking height, cooling is also improved as a larger heatsink can be used and there is also more separation from digital signaling on the baseboard. All WILDSTAR Mezzanine Cards have fully tested FPGA interfaces to provide reliable data transfer between the two even at the highest sample rates and are qualified on Annapolis baseboards for reliable system integration. The WILDSTAR Mezzanine Card specification is open and customers can design their own proprietary cards if needed.

All Annapolis ADC/DACs deliver world class performance, allow for synchronization across multiple cards, and can accept external clock and trigger. Some cards also have on-board (internal) clocking options.

On WILDSTAR 7 and WILDSTAR A5 baseboards, there is an option to populate three QSFP+ cages on the baseboard (1st slot) and then still use a WILDSTAR Mezzanine Card in a second slot. The QSFP+ interfaces can run up to 14.1 Gbps and each is capable of running a 40Gb Ethernet or QDR/FDR Infiniband interface (IP included with board purchase) or other high-speed protocol such as Annap Micro Protocol which is a low FPGA resource usage protocol with full flow control and variable line rate.

The QSFP+ option is a manufacturing option chosen when the board is purchased. WILDSTAR Mezzanine Cards are compatible across the product line and can be swapped or upgraded as needed. There are some compatibility exceptions with older mezzanine cards being used on WILDSTAR 7 or WILDSTAR A5 baseboards due to FPGA technology changes.

  • WILD FMC+ QM30 ADC & DAC – WWQM30

    This high performance WILD FMC+ QM30 ADC & DAC has four input bandwidth options, internal sample clock options and internal 10MHz reference clock options. This card allows for eight ADC and eight DAC channels in one 6U OpenVPX slot (or four ADC and four DAC channels for 3U) when plugged into WILDSTAR OpenVPX FPGA mainboards. The WILD FMC+ QM30 ADC & DAC card also has optional speed grades up to 9GSps with a resolution of 14 Bits.

    Compatible with any WILDSTAR mainboard with a WILD FMC+ slot.

  • Quad 12GSps 16-Bit DAC WFMC+ – WWQDA1

    This high performance quad channel 12GSps DAC with two input bandwidth options, optional 50Ω SSMC I/O connectors, internal sample clock options and internal 10MHz reference clock options.

    Compatible with any WILDSTAR mainboard with a WFMC+ slot.

  • Sidekiq™ Multi-Channel RF Transceiver – X2 and X4

    The programmable Sidekiq X2 and X4 from Epiq Solutions are multi-channel RF transceiver cards that introduce a new level of RF integration and capability, reducing product development times and improving wideband range, versatility, and performance. Sidekiq creates a flexible, high-capacity RF transceiver solution that is designed for pairing (as shown in photo) with a high-performance WILDSTAR FPGA Baseboard.

  • WILD FMC+ TO00 Serial I/O Optical – WWTO00

    This high performance WILD FMC+ TO00 Serial I/O Optical squeezes six FireFly™ optical transceivers on a single Mezzanine. Each transceiver runs up to 28Gbps per lane.

    Compatible with any WILDSTAR mainboard with a WILD FMC+ slot.

  • WILD FMC+ QA30 ADC – WWQA30

    This high performance WILD FMC+ QA30 ADC has four input bandwidth options, internal sample clock options and internal 10MHz reference clock options. This card allows for eight ADC channels in one 6U OpenVPX slot (or four channels for 3U) when plugged into WILDSTAR OpenVPX FPGA mainboards. The WILD FMC+ QA30 ADC card also has optional speed grades up to 3GSps with a resolution of 14 Bits.

    Also available: QA31 is a similar narrower-band card that is optimized for analog input frequencies between 1-4GHz.

  • WILD FMC+ GM60 ADC & DAC – WWGM60

    This high density WILD FMC+ GM60 ADC & DAC is the industry’s first COTS FMC+ Mezzanine to feature the new Xilinx® Zynq® UltraScale+™ RF System-on-Chip (RFSoC) technology. The flexible RFSoC device can support many different configurations and combinations of ADCs and DACs.

    The GM60 provides 4 channels each of ADC and DAC.

    The GM60 is available for use with Annapolis’ WILDSTAR PCIe and OpenVPX Baseboards. Also designed for standalone use, the GM60 is designed for applications limited by Size, Weight, Power, and Cost (SWaP-C). This WILD FMC+ card operates within a tight envelope; it is slimmer than a 3U OpenVPX board, with about 45% less depth.

    The versatile GM60 is ideal for advanced High Performance Computing (HPC), Radar, and Electronic Warfare (EW) applications, including DRFM, beamforming, sensor processing, wireless communication, and radar signal processing.

  • WILD FMC+ 0L00 LVDS – WW0L00

    The WILD FMC+ 0L00 LVDS provides high speed, LVDS I/O transfers between WILDSTAR Mainboards and other components.

    Compatible with any WILDSTAR Mainboard with a WFMC+ slot.

  • WILD FMC+ 8A30 ADC – WW8A30

    This high performance WILD FMC+ 8A30 ADC has eight input bandwidth options, internal sample clock options and internal 10MHz reference clock options. This card allows for sixteen ADC channels in one 6U OpenVPX slot (or eight channels for 3U) when plugged into WILDSTAR OpenVPX FPGA mainboards. The WILD FMC+ 8A30 ADC card also has optional speed grades up to 3GSps with a resolution of 14 Bits.

  • WILD FMC+ DM60 ADC & DAC – WWDM60

    This high performance WILD FMC+ DM60 ADC & DAC has two input bandwidth options, internal sample clock options and internal 10MHz reference clock options.  It allows for ADC and DAC speed grades up to 10.0GSps and 6.0GSps, respectively. The WILD FMC+ DM60 ADC & DAC also gives the user the ability to have up to eight ADC and four DAC channels in one 6U OpenVPX slot.
