Annapolis Micro Systems is a small business, incorporated in 1982. Considered the leader in reconfigurable computing systems, Annapolis designs and manufactures embedded Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) systems and products for digital signal processing and high performance embedded computing for the military and commercial markets. Annapolis has also developed the advanced graphical programming tool called CoreFire Next™, enabling customers to leverage the power of FPGAs to solve their most challenging applications. Annapolis has a 53,000-square-foot facility including engineering labs, and a surface mount assembly line, all located in beautiful Annapolis, Maryland, USA. Annapolis is a historic city located on the Chesapeake Bay and within easy driving distance of Washington, D.C. and Baltimore, MD.
The Annapolis quality management system has been registered by Intertek as conforming to the requirements of ISO 9001:2015. The management system is applicable to the design, development, manufacturing, and applications programming of COTS computing systems for the commercial and military markets. See the Annapolis Quality Policy.
World Class Hardware
Annapolis Micro Systems prides itself on producing world-class hardware products. Annapolis designs maximize FPGA real estate and available pins per package to yield maximum performance. Annapolis products are designed to be rugged and reliable, meeting harsh environmental requirements. Annapolis employs a balanced and modular design approach and provides a complete FPGA product set, or EcoSystem, for OpenVPX and PCIe. FPGA based mother boards are complemented by analog conversion products with market leading performance, including best in class clock and trigger distribution. Annapolis further differentiates its product portfolio with real time storage, terabit per second switching, and chassis.
Application Development Tools

Realizing the need to make FPGA processing easier and available to more customers, Annapolis Micro Systems developed the CoreFire Next tool. We leveraged rich application development experience to produce a tool designed to simplify FPGA programming. CoreFire Next significantly reduces time to market for the most demanding applications. CoreFire Next targets Annapolis’ Intel or Xilinx FPGA-based products. Annapolis also fully supports a VHDL design flow for our products, providing customers with another approach for FPGA development.
The Annapolis Applications Team supports a wide range of application services, from architecture concepts to full implementation, providing decades of system design and FPGA application expertise. Annapolis application engineers work closely with customers to ensure project success.
State-of-the-Art Production
Our state of the art production facility is located on site in Annapolis, Maryland, enabling full production of our COTS hardware. Annapolis’ manufacturing line is designed to meet customers’ needs both large and small, including high mix orders and special manufacturing requirements or timelines. The Annapolis production team enables customers to have long product life-cycle support, and aggressively manages part obsolescence by working closely with customers and continually providing future upgrade paths. Annapolis maintains full part traceability and protects against receipt and use of counterfeit parts.
Agile Business Model
Annapolis has a unique business model with three core components:
- A commitment to being privately-held and debt-free, enabling a nimbler approach to new innovations
- A commitment to high-performance COTS products that require little or no NRE and that are faster to market
- A commitment to USA-based co-location of engineering and production, allowing for better control, scheduling, and customer support
Annapolis provides unsurpassed support and is committed to making our customers successful, by working closely with customers to meet project schedules and timelines. Annapolis is an expert and experienced partner, capable of assisting customers every step of the way. In addition to phone, email and on-site support, Annapolis also provides training classes for all phases of application development. We work until the job is done, correctly and completely.
